The Pulse sequel has taken home it’s biggest honor yet, a long-list badge from Shelf Unbound’s 2023 Indie Book of the Year contest!
And here it is with the rest of my badges:

Recently the Pulse sequel was awarded a Literary Titan 5-Star seal and this was a big deal to me because my previous novels only received 4-stars at Literary Titan. That 5-star seal showed growth. Once again here we are with the Pulse sequel achieving another higher level of recognition as that badge above is not the first badge I have won from Shelf Unbound. In 2020, my debut novel, Someone’s Story, was given their “Notable Indie” honor which is their award level for the submissions that were above average but not in the mix for the big win. What is cool this time is that I was able to make the “Long-list” which means out of hundreds of 2023 indie book submissions, Pulse: Book Two was in the top 15 for general fiction! General fiction is one of the toughest categories to place in because you are competing against all the other genres.
One of the most joyous experiences for me as an author is when I get a new badge and I get to open up my backend files to add the new award to the mix. It’s years of hard work turned into picture form and all those seals above mean a ton to me. I hope Pulse gets a few more of these as I have some open award submissions I am still awaiting feedback on and the early trend has been improvements in every contest.

And if you are just finding Pulse, you have to go see and hear the music videos I made while I crafted this project. It is a remarkable achievement that not only did I write an award’s level book, but I also made a Canada Council for the Arts grant funded music video project tied to said novel that is unlike anything you will ever see in the indie book community!
